🍂 From Tuscany to Twinkle Lights: What’s Happening at Kiln Creations
Editorial Issue • Fall Studio Journal
The weather is cooling down, the holidays are creeping closer, and our calendar has officially entered its bread, pottery, twinkle lights, and cozy-things season.
Over the next two weeks, we’re making things for the table, getting muddy at the wheel, breaking out the Christmas lights, and launching another Kiln Kitchen experience. Basically, if your ideal fall plans involve making something with your hands and possibly eating something delicious, we’ve got you.
🥖 October 30: Tuscan Bread Plates
We're starting in Tuscany. Or, you know, as close as we can get without buying plane tickets.
Our Tuscan Bread Plate class combines pottery painting with one of our favorite things: food worth making a special dish for.
You'll paint a beautiful bread plate inspired by the warm colors and rustic patterns of the Italian countryside. Think olive branches, lemons, herbs, warm terracotta, traditional patterns—or completely ignore us and paint whatever belongs on your table.
The best part? This isn't pottery destined to sit on a shelf. It's meant to be piled with warm bread, passed around the table, and used until everyone associates it with dinner at your house.
🏺 November 1: Couples Wheel
Date night, but significantly messier.
Our Couples Wheel class is your chance to try the pottery wheel together—whether you're actual pottery beginners or you've spent enough time watching The Great Pottery Throw Down to be dangerously confident.
We'll walk you through the basics of centering, pulling and shaping clay on the wheel while you attempt to make something vaguely vessel-shaped.
Will you recreate the scene from Ghost? We can't stop you. Will your partner immediately become weirdly competitive about whose pot is better? Almost certainly.
Either way, you'll get muddy, laugh a lot, and have something much more interesting to talk about over dinner afterward than what you're watching on Netflix.
🎄 November 6: Light Up Christmas
It's happening.
We held off as long as we could. Christmas pottery has entered the chat.
Light Up Christmas is dedicated to those magical ceramic pieces that come out of the box every year: Christmas trees, light-ups, holiday characters and all the glowing little things that somehow make a house feel like Christmas.
Choose your piece and we'll help you turn it into something that fits your Christmas. Go classic green and red, snowy white, retro pink, vintage multicolor, maximalist Christmas chaos—whatever makes you happy when you plug it in every December.
These are the pieces your kids fight over someday. At least that's the dream. They may also fight over your Pyrex. Families are unpredictable.
🍰 November 7: Kiln Kitchen
And then we're heading back to the kitchen.
Kiln Kitchen is our love letter to functional pottery—the pieces that don't just look beautiful but become part of the recipes, meals and traditions happening around them. We're pairing pottery with the thing it was actually made for: food.
You'll create a functional piece, learn how to make it your own, and enjoy the flavors that inspired it. Kiln Kitchen isn't about making something you'll carefully display and never touch again. We want these pieces covered in crumbs. We want them sitting in the middle of your table. We want somebody asking you five years from now, “Where did you get that?”
And we want you to get to say: “I made it.”
Four events. Eight days. Bread plates. Pottery wheels. Christmas lights. Kiln Kitchen. Apparently, we've decided November should start at full speed.
Whether you're coming for date night, getting a head start on Christmas, making something for your table, or simply looking for an excuse to get out of the house and make something, we'll save you a seat.
