What We're Making This Weekend | August 14–16

Sometimes when we're putting together the weekend lineup, I stop and think, "This is either the weirdest business on earth...or the most fun." This weekend is a perfect example.
On Friday, we're gathering a room full of adults to sing along to K-Pop Demon Hunters. On Saturday, we're painting cats while talking about menopause. Then we're wrapping up the weekend by teaching couples how to throw pottery on the wheel together.
If someone walked into the studio halfway through any of those events without context, they'd have so many questions.

Let's address the elephant in the room.
Yes...it's an adults-only sing-along.
No...we're not embarrassed about it.
Somewhere along the way, all of us watched K-Pop Demon Hunters "just to see what the kids were talking about," and now half the studio has the soundtrack stuck in our heads. Rather than pretend we're too cool for it, we've decided to embrace the chaos.
We'll have the music playing, the lyrics on the screen, pottery to paint, and a room full of people who absolutely know every word. If you hit every high note, congratulations. If you don't, we'll all be too busy singing with you to notice.
I don't know who came up with the name Meow-nopause, but I wish I'd thought of it first.
We're excited to welcome Lindsay Sprunk for an evening that's equal parts creative, educational, and reassuring. While we paint cat-themed pottery, Lindsay will lead an honest conversation about perimenopause, menopause, and all those strange symptoms that make you wonder, "Wait...that's connected too?"
If you've ever found yourself standing in the kitchen wondering why you walked in there, suddenly become the human equivalent of a space heater, or just wanted a place to laugh with other women who get it, this night is for you.
You'll leave with a finished pottery piece, a little more knowledge, and hopefully the comforting realization that you're not the only one wondering what your body is doing these days.
We blame Hollywood.
Movies make throwing pottery together look graceful and romantic, like you'll immediately create a perfectly symmetrical vase while soft music plays in the background. Real life is a little different.
There's clay on your elbows. Somebody laughs so hard their piece collapses. One person accidentally makes something that looks suspiciously like a cereal bowl for a hamster. And somehow...that's what makes it memorable.
Our Couples Wheel Class isn't about creating museum-quality pottery. It's about trying something new together, cheering each other on, getting a little messy, and walking away with a story you'll still be laughing about later. Sometimes the crooked bowl ends up being your favorite one.
Honestly...What a Weekend.
One of our favorite things about Kiln Creations is that we never really fit into one category.
Some weekends we're teaching wheel throwing.
Some weekends we're talking about women's health.
Some weekends we're belting out animated K-pop songs at the top of our lungs.
And somehow...it all makes perfect sense here.
