We have officially reached that magical point in the Indiana calendar where it's probably still 87 degrees outside, but emotionally we have moved on, there is a pumpkin on the table, somebody is making a cauldron, and we're no longer interested in hearing arguments about whether it's "too early" for Halloween.
This weekend we're leaning all the way in.
We're carving pumpkins that will never rot, building clay cauldrons from scratch, getting beginners muddy on the pottery wheel, and wrapping everything up with a Cottagecore Sunday Social featuring the tiniest reward for doing your creative homework: Mushie Tot.
Honestly, August had a good run.
🐈 Friday Night 6-8p: Meow-nopause
Because apparently pumpkins and cauldrons weren't enough for one weekend, we're also talking about menopause...with cats. Obviously.
Join us Saturday for Meow-nopause featuring Lindsay Sprunk, where we'll spend the evening painting cat-themed pottery while having the kind of honest, funny conversation about perimenopause and menopause that we really wish someone had started with us about ten years earlier. Lindsay will be there to talk about what's happening, answer questions, and hopefully explain why our bodies have suddenly decided to start freelancing without consulting management.
Come paint a cat, ask the questions you've been Googling at 2 AM, learn something about the body you've been occupying all these years, and spend the evening with a room full of people who will completely understand when you say, "WAIT. THAT'S A SYMPTOM TOO?!"
Honestly, if we're going to go through it, we might as well go through it together...and there should probably be cats.
🎃 Friday: Carve Your Own Ceramic Pumpkin
Every year we spend an unreasonable amount of time choosing the perfect pumpkin, haul it home, scoop out approximately seventeen pounds of pumpkin guts, painstakingly carve a masterpiece into the side...and then watch it slowly collapse into itself on the front porch. We decided your artistic labor deserves better.
For this class, we've poured large hollow pumpkins from clay and kept them whole so that you get to do the carving, only instead of wrestling with a kitchen knife and a surprisingly muscular gourd, you'll be working with soft, malleable clay that's much easier to cut, carve, and turn into something spectacular.
Go traditional with triangle eyes and a toothy grin, bring an elaborate pattern, carve florals, make it creepy, make it ridiculous, or get wildly ambitious and create the pumpkin that makes every other pumpkin in the neighborhood feel inadequate.
Once you've finished carving and painting, we'll handle the firing, and instead of tossing your masterpiece into the compost pile in November, you'll get to bring it back out every Halloween.
No mold. No squirrels. No pumpkin liquefying itself onto your porch.

🌀 Saturday: Give the Pottery Wheel a Spin
Saturdays at 11 & 2:30p
If spooky season isn't quite your thing—or you'd simply like to squeeze some mud into the weekend too—our beginner-friendly Try It Wheel classes are your chance to finally find out whether all those mesmerizing pottery videos make it look easier than it actually is.
Spoiler: they do.
But that's half the fun.
We'll walk you through the process from centering the clay to pulling up the walls of your first piece, and you absolutely do not need to arrive knowing what any of those words mean. These classes are made for beginners, and wonky first bowls are not only allowed, they're practically a rite of passage.
This is where the weekend gets properly witchy.
We're building cauldrons from clay, which means you aren't choosing a cauldron off a shelf and painting it; you're actually creating the thing from the beginning, giving you permission to make yours as whimsical, creepy, ancient, mossy, magical, or mildly cursed as your heart desires.
Add handles, texture, strange little feet, vines, mushrooms, symbols, creepy details, or whatever else you think a respectable cauldron should have. There is no reason your Halloween decorations need to look like everyone else's when you can make something completely from scratch and proudly announce every October, "Oh, that? Yeah, I made it."
We have Clay Cauldron classes available Saturday and Sunday, so you've got two chances to join us this weekend.
After spending the weekend carving pumpkins and building cauldrons, apparently we're wandering into the forest.
This week's Sunday Social theme is Cottagecore, so we're thinking mushrooms, frogs, snails, wildflowers, tiny cottages, mossy forests, woodland creatures and basically anything that looks like it might belong to a woman who disappeared into the woods twenty years ago and is now living quite happily in a cottage making jam.
Choose whatever pottery you'd like and paint it in the week's theme, and you'll earn this week's Sunday Social Collectible: 🍄 Mushie Tot.
Our Sunday Social collectibles are only available during their theme week, so if you have already decided you're collecting these tiny weirdos, we regret to inform you that skipping Sunday is now emotionally impossible.
We're not sorry.
Spooky Season Has Entered the Chat
We're still technically in August, but this weekend feels like the unofficial changing of the guard around here, when summer starts making room for everything strange, cozy, magical, and just a little bit haunted.
You can carve a forever pumpkin, make your own cauldron, try the pottery wheel, paint something straight out of a woodland fairy tale, or just walk in during open studio and create whatever has been living in your head lately.
We'll provide the clay, paint, tools, and encouragement.
You provide the creative chaos.
